Your getting the most for your money, if you buy a 1073mp (lets say you don't need eq) that will probably outperform any 500 series 1073 clone in the price range due to the dedicated power supply.

Plus they don't pop at 40 I have one right in front of me. It's one of the best purchases I've ever made for my studio.īAE uses real Carnhills. I have owned mine for a couple months now. I own a BAE 1073mp it does not pop anywhere on the gain dail. the sound quality is right there even on my version
Judging by the build quality on my 1073mp I'd agree.

But yeah if your ballin on a budget BAE is 100% worth it I'd sayīy the way about the full 1073 by bae it says its as authentic as you can get to the original. If money was no object I'd just get a Neve 1073dpx call it a day lol. Just pricier, so that kinda settled it for me. I want the best raw preamp quality I can get for my money. The x73i, i figure, skimps somewhere to be adding an eq section at that price. I hear the x73i is pretty good by vintech but the preamp section supposedly doesn't sound as good as the other clones and I don't care about eq so I went Bae. In general, and factoring in price, I'd say Bae then Heritage than vintech. I try to be smart with my money and I researched all the clones and all my options, I wanted highest quality preamp (I don't care about eq) for lowest price so I settled on a 1073mp. Heritage vs BAE vs Vintech?Bae is the best deal.
I don't really have a price range yet, I'm just looking for input so I can determine what the proper spend is going to be. Of course there's the AMS Neve stuff, but I think both they and their vintage counterparts are out of my price range at the moment. I heard the Vintech 573 is nice but not really great and the BAE and Heritage stuff seems to get lots of love. But it does have the EQ section and I keep reading online that a 1073 pre without the EQ section doesn't have the same mojo. what other 1073 style hardware preamps out there would you recommend? I wasn't impressed at all with the GAP 73 and I keep hearing great things about the Vintech X73i, even though it apparently is populated with surface-mount components to save costs. Hell, running it through all hardware versions of my favorite Pultecs, LA2As, etc would probably be the shiz, but that's a problem to tackle at a later time. And as killer as it sounds, I keep thinking that a real 1073 style hardware pre, running through my favorite UAD plug in combo would sound even better. The 19” rack-mount 2U unit includes an external multi-voltage PSU.I recently acquired an Apollo Twin and have grown to love the Unison plug in for the Neve 1073 for voice over. Building on the 1073 classic module features, the 1073DPX introduces extra functionality with integrated DI input, phantom power, selectable Insert feature, level meters, selectable headphone monitoring and I/O connectors on each channel for easy and direct connection of microphones and instruments. The Neve 1073DPX mic pre and EQ combination adds warmth and depth to recordings, brings out subtle ambience, maintains spatial positioning, and captures a more precise image – embodying, think many engineers and producers, the essence of the genuine Neve sound. The 1073DPX has two channels of Neve 1073 Class A design microphone preamplifiers, each with 3-band EQ (fixed HF plus two switchable bands with cut/boost capability) and high pass filter. Designed and built in England, the modern-day Neve 1073DPX is produced to the exact specifications of the original with matched components to ensure the sound remains true. Found on some of the most famous recordings of the past 40 years, the big, punchy sound of the 1073 complements any musical genre – from rock to rap to classical.
Launched in 1970, the Neve 1073 Classic soon became the first choice mic preamp for leading producers and artists. Digital Adapters & Miscellaneous Cables.
